Since Code Lyoko first aired in France. The show has been a big part of my teenage years, and kept my interest in cartoons. I have to admit, I didn't have a lot of expectations for the show when I first watched it in 2006, especially when my brother told me it wasn't a good show. But I gave it a go and I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters and its unique animation design and switch between both animation styles (2D animation for Earth and CGI).

When the show was going to be revived with a fifth season, I was ecstatic that I would get to see Code Lyoko again, even though it ended up being half live action and half CGI. But the show again had exceeded my expectations and made it enjoyable to watch again, reliving old memories of the show, and answering some questions that have plagued me and the fans for years. Not to mention that contact with the actors and actresses that bought some of our favourite characters to life was awesome and I felt thankful that they would spend some time interacting with the fans.

So, I feel grateful that even though the show seems down and out again, there's a fanbase that would support the show through thick and thin. That the main characters, Jeremie, Aelita, Odd, Ulrich, Yumi and William have made a big impact on some of these fans' lives as they have watched the show. The secondary characters, Jim, Laura, Sissi, just to name a few, have shown to be a huge part of Code Lyoko and are developed and valued, despite their minor roles.

Thank you Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo for creating a wonderful show, Antefilms and Moonscoop for animating and making the CGI animation, and the voice actors/actresses and actors and actresses for making Code Lyoko and Code Lyoko Evolution special and memorable to us all.

Hey everyone, I guess some people who watch/follow/subscribe/whatever me have been wondering how I am going with The Last Agent and more importantly, when I am going to publish the story on fanfiction/deviantart, perhaps put some excerpts on Tumblr etc. Well, this update is going to shed some light on most of the questions.

For those who haven't read it, Pretty Hate Machine was put on fanfiction.net on 23rd June, 2011 and later that year on deviantart. For a twelve chapter story, it had gotten a lot of hits and reviews than I had expected, and most of the reception from readers were positive. The Last Agent is the sequel to that story that I've yet to have written. If you have time, have a read of it on either fanfiction www.fanfiction.net/s/7113042/1… or right here on deviantart aeonfrodo.deviantart.com/art/P…. If you have even more time, I put journal entries up on this site on planning and writing Pretty Hate Machine as well.

So how am I going with The Last Agent? Well, I wanted to be a lot further in The Last Agent, like almost done with it. However, due to life, university and so many laptop mishaps in regards to battery life and its age, it's been really annoying to write it under those circumstances. I can't do a whole lot about the first two since they're more important than anything and university work takes priority, but the third I can. At the end of the year, I'm hoping to get a new laptop and get my harddrive installed into the into the new laptop so it could be possible I don't have to worry about formatting the laptop.

I'm also incredibly busy in my spare time now, with Sworn to Secrecy (Code Lyoko episodes with commentary and discussion with viewers), being a moderator at Xana's Lair and catching up on a lot of games I haven't been able to play a lot of (Resident Evil 6, Rock Band 3, The Last Story, Borderlands 2 and Pokemon White 2), so that's going to take some of my time up.

The Last Agent has also been a lot harder to write than Pretty Hate Machine. After writing a chapter, I have been checking it just in case I've left any spoilers, or too much indication of one in the wrong place. And the amount of times I have checked is staggering. I believe I looked at one chapter ten times just preventing a spoiler to come out. Whether somebody may pick it up somehow, I don't know. So, I ended up deciding to write backwards, from the final chapter, to the chapter that I got up to.

The good news is that I am a quarter through the story, and that is not too bad. I could post it now if I wanted to. But because I am so structurally rigid and particular, I can't do that knowing I won't get a chapter done on time. Which is why I wait until the story is at least 90%-95% completed before publishing a chapter. The bad news is that more than likely The Last Agent would come out next year and I can't exactly confirm a release date for deviantart and fanfiction.

There is one big thing I can confirm right now. If you asked me for a preview of The Last Agent before yesterday, I would've said that's not possible. But thanks to inspiration by a song... I can say that a preview of The Last Agent before it being released is possible. However, this preview is not directly a part of The Last Agent itself, but is a oneshot relating to it. That's the best way I can explain it. Because it was inspired by a song released in 2000, the oneshot is going to be named after that. It also relates to the situation in the oneshot so it makes sense too.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope I can bring you guys more good news about my projects for the Code Lyoko community.

What You Deserve is the final chapter of Pretty Hate Machine, and to be quite frank not an awful lot happens in it. It's basically meant to end the story, and highlighting some loose ends that Pretty Hate Machine has before passing the torch to The Last Agent, which is the sequel to this story.

With that being said, I did want the final line of Head Like a Hole, 'you know who you are', to be the chapter's title. However, due to confusion if that was actually the final line of the song or not, I decided to play it safe. Instead, I used part of the line that made the song critically acclaimed, 'You're going to get what you deserve.' The last three words which ended up being the chapter title, is the conclusion of this story and sums up what Ulrich deserves at the end. Freedom, but he has to move on with his life with major difficulty. The first step is visiting Franz Hopper due to his request.

Ulrich explaining how he feels and what happened during his possession was one way to move on from being possessed by Avikar. It's also the polar opposite to how he's been around his friends. He was a lot willing to reveal what happened to him than when he was telling Yumi about the incident in chapter three. It's another element of his development.

The final scene of the story is meant to highlight that Ulrich had proved to himself that he was able to overcome his hatred and desire for revenge, and is not the pretty hate machine that would obey Avikar's orders blindly.

And this is where Pretty Hate Machine ends, and The Last Agent begins…

Head Like a Hole was the hardest chapter to write in Pretty Hate Machine. It presented me with a challenge of alternating between Ulrich's mind and what's happening on Lyoko very rapidly and going back and fourth. Finding balance between the two were difficult, but the final product ended up better than I expected.

This chapter is only one scene long because there was a major degree of difficulty to get the balance of Ulrich's mind and Lyoko, not to mention they had to make sense and have to be chronological. The thing is, everything that happens in the mind is much faster than what is happening in reality, thanks to the speed messages are passed via the neurons. To have in chronologically correct would be more difficult than usual due to this fact.

I wasn't ready to write a chapter like that, so I skipped over it for the time being and wrote chapter 12. Since nothing came to mind, and I had already set a date for Pretty Hate Machine's release, I decided to post up the first chapter of the story. It was about three chapters in I released I needed to get my ass in gear and write the chapter.

Then it all came at once, and I was able to write the chapter easily because of where the overall plot was going and Ulrich's character development. Having Ulrich resolve his feelings of revenge and having him be the one to inflict the final blow on Avikar was how I wanted to end his suffering in this story. Avikar's demise was orchestrated in a way where Ulrich's reasoning to kill him had nothing to do with revenge, but just getting his body back so he can resolve his own life.

Yumi's role in reminding and inspiring Ulrich to fight his captor was enjoyable to write. To overcome her fears of being ill-suited to fighting him and her determination to help him through this situation was a staple point in the chapter I had to nail as well. Having Yumi bring up memories for Ulrich, which triggered other positive memories and standing up to his possessed form not only made it an awesome fight, but it displayed that she had overcame her hardships.

The final part of the chapter was done with no dialogue at all. I wanted it to be focused on the characters' internal thoughts, and their relief that Ulrich is finally back to normal. It needed to be peaceful and light to end the chapter on a high note.

The chapter's title, and the song that inspired me to write this fanfiction in the first place, highlights that anyone is vulnerable no matter how determined they keep a hold of something that is dear and precious to them. Avikar lost Ulrich's body because of his horrible treatment of Ulrich and Ulrich's renewed reasons to defeat him.

Not One to Choose began the climatic battle between the Lyoko Warriors and possessed Ulrich. It's a short and simple chapter compared to the others, but it does contain action and obviously things going on in the mind of Ulrich.

The starting scene reintroduced Franz Hopper in the story. He is an integral part to saving Ulrich, and without a huge scene involving him wouldn't do his work a lot of justice. It also gave the opportunity to have Jeremie and the group interact with him, as it was rarely seen in the show.

However, it did lead to a major problem. With the XANA attack I had planned for the chapter. I completely forgot to explain why that section of Sector 5 was there, as well as why would XANA target it. I came up with an extremely plausible idea, to my good fortune, and it would be implemented in the sequel of the story. I really don't have much of an explanation for how I came up with it except that it was pretty much made up at the point I was writing that scene.

The fight scene was fun to write, as it was incredibly dynamic and had a lot of elements to it. The elements consisted of what the group were thinking in their situations. This was primarily focused on what everyone thought about Yumi, as she has been speculated to have the most trouble dealing with fighting possessed Ulrich. This was especially shown with Odd, because he's close with Ulrich, and would hate to see Yumi being forced to face Ulrich. But as much as he would like to take responsibility to be the one that would free Ulrich from Avikar and XANA, possessed Ulrich was strong enough to have Aelita to take the blow for him and Yumi refused to give Odd the fan with the antibodies program in it. Hence the title of the chapter, Not One to Choose.

The final scene in the chapter had built up the tension and the emotion over the last two chapters. After all, the time has come for Yumi Ishiyama to finally face possessed Ulrich Stern, and she couldn't fail this time around.
